As a medical doctor, I’m quite concerned about the rapid decline in the overall health of Americans. The incidence of diabetes and heart disease is still increasing despite the fact that we spend more money on health care than any other nation in the world. Our lifetime risk of being diagnosed with cancer is approaching 1 out of every 2 individuals. I find this a frightening statistic. If this trend continues, we will end up bankrupting our health care system and possibly our entire economy. It is up to us to start taking responsibility for our own health.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation out there about what is healthy. I’d like to post a few health and dietary tips which are not always mainstream knowledge. Most of the things I post I’ve found through my research. I often will refer to an author or an excerpt out of his or her book. This does not mean I endorse or agree with everything that author has written, or has ever written. What I am trying to do is point out new research, new information, or opinions that are worth our extra attention.
